Our typical procedure for building
your website includes:
- Request and obtain a quote.
The first step in a DexterDogDesigns.com website is to fill out the contact form. A completed form sometimes gives enough information for us to give a quote, but more often we will ask a few questions to get a better idea of the scope of the project before giving the quote. We strive to give one quote, and stick to it. An estimated time-line is also given. If agreed upon, then work begins with a 50% deposit. - Logo Design
If you requested logo design, this will be our first step. Drafts will be sent to you by email and using your feedback, the rough draft is perfected until it suits the you and your business perfectly. This part takes from two days to two weeks depending on the communications and or complexity of the logo. - Photography
If you need photography services and are in the local area we can include the photography work in our quote - and stand behind every aspect of it. However; if you are not local we can recommend a photographer for you if you desire as a courtesy to you. The actual cost and service performed would clearly be out of our control. If you provide your own photography, of course there is no charge. - Web Design - CSS - XHTML
The actual design part of the process starts. We use the same process as the logo design; providing a draft, getting feedback and perfecting the design. By the end of this step, which can take from two days to two weeks - depending on the communications, all content should be submitted to Dexter Dog Designs, including text and pictures so we can proceed to the actual development. - Web Development
This is where the pages of the site come together. We add your content to the pages and select the correct fonts, font sizes and colors, and placement so the entire site flows together and is easy for the visitor to navigate and read. At this point you will be presented with a 'mock up' of your site for your review. While the site would not be fully functional - you will be able to determine the overall 'look and feel' for the site enough to make any revisions or accept the overall theme. - Page Revisions
We ask that you submit any requested changes and/or revisions at this time. Revision requests should be sent in by email. This is the time to review the work and make any final changes necessary. Please note that once this stage of work is completed, the list of revisions cannot typically be altered easily. Thus, we ask that you review your changes carefully before presenting them. It will save unnecessary expense and additional time for all concerned. - Revision Acceptance - SEO
This is when you review the changes and approve the revision(s). Please understand, at this point once an item has been approved by you, it cannot be revised again without incurring additional charges. The first part of Search Engine Optimization, SEO, is done now, by validating the code for every page, ensuring your content and meta tags are optimized, and building your site map. If using Google Analytics, we add that code as well. If all content has been given to us, this part takes one to three weeks. - Final Approval
Once your project is completed, you will receive a "Request for Approval" email. By agreeing and returning this email, you agree that all work has been completed to your satisfaction. At this point, the remaining 50% of the final quote is due. Once received the approval email and payment, we will transfer your website files to you, or place on your web host, or in the case of a new website, it will officially be 'open for business'. At this point DexterDogDesigns.com will submit the website to Google, MSN and Yahoo as the final part of our SEO services. - Updates / Upgrades
After the final approval, any further upgrades and/or updates for your site will involve a cost depending on the complexity of the modifications. We hope that you would continue to look to us for your website needs.
Please note that clients who have content management or e-commerce websites will have a bit different process.
About Us
We are located in Shelby, North Carolina. We take a personal approach your website needs and your friendship.
We can take on the simplest of pages up to large industrial and commercial sites, at prices often far better than the competition.
We do our coding by hand in CSS and XHTML to W3C standards to give a true cross-platform appeal to your website. In other words, it looks the same regardless of what modern browser is used. Combine that with our coding with SEO in mind from the very start - and you have a winning combination.
Through adaptation of the CSS standards, variations from one browser to another have been greatly reduced. We strive to achieve this standard with every page we build. If everyone can't use the site - what good is it?
Bottom line, we want your site to be successful, because we want to succeed too.
Customers tell their friends, about their experiences with a company. We want those friends to come to us too!
We aim to provide you with the best value for your hard earned money, and that's a promise.
